What I'll Remember

Amy looks through her closet, trying to find the snow globe from her Christmas-themed memory flashes, while Katie looks on. Amy tells Katie she’s been thinking about the snow globe for four days, so it’s probably been four days since Season 2, Episode 4. Katie says she doesn’t remember the snow globe, but then she goes to a storage unit and retrieve the exact snow globe Amy has been seeing.

We flashback to Katie in therapy. In a session with Michael, they talk about how Amy acts like Katie isn’t even there and it’s not right. Katie says it’s been two years, presumably referring to the time since Danny’s death. Katie is clearly very hurt. The next therapy session we see is with Amy and Katie. Katie took Amy’s phone and saw that she’s looking at apartments. Katie starts crying and says she doesn’t understand how Amy can just give up on Michael. Amy is very detached. In the final flashback, we see Amy give Katie the snow globe at Christmas. It seems to be the first Christmas since Amy moved out of Michael’s house. Katie rejects the snow globe and gets very upset, saying that Amy only cares about Danny. They argue again about why Amy left Michael.

Jake drops off his daughter Mia with his wife Rachel. Rachel asked if he is dating anyone. He says there is someone, but there are serious obstacles at the moment. Rachel says he’s always been too much of a romantic. He makes a joke referencing some kind of infidelity on Rachel’s part.

Jake and Amy have an awkward run-in at the hospital. He tries to be nice, but she isn’t having it.

It’s Michael’s first day back from paternity leave. He’s tasked with taking Sonya’s father on a hospital tour because he’s a big donor and wants to donate millions of dollars to the hospital. While talking to her father, Michael mentions that Sonya has been at the hospital for almost four years. He wonders why her dad decided to donate now…

Sonya joins Michael and her father and, it’s clear that Sonya and her father have a strained relationship. Michael notices it and asks Sonya what’s going on, wanting to help her navigate it. Sonya tells Michael that Ravi (from Season 1, Episode 7) is the son of her dad’s business partner, and her parents won’t acknowledge what Ravi did to her. Sonya says that she put herself through med school so she wouldn’t be beholden to them. It feels gross that her dad is trying to donate money to Westside to get back in her good graces and control her. When the hospital tour is over, Sonya’s father asks her to come over for dinner. Sonya tells him that if he wants to reconcile, she needs to be able to talk about Ravi did and how her mother hurt her by ignoring what happened.

Joan and Amy talk at the end of the work day. Amy asks Joan why she told her to leave Michael five years ago. Joan tells Amy that it’s hard to tell friends the hard truths, but that Amy was worth it. Joan says she is proud of how Amy handled herself in the years after Danny’s death, which is very different than what Amy has heard from everyone else. Amy switches the topic to Jake, and Joan asks Amy why she thinks Jake is a good idea…from a professional standpoint. Amy doesn’t respond.

Jake treats a patient whose sister has a crush on him and get increasingly flirtstatious throughout the episode. At the end of the day, she asks him out for a drink. He looks interested, but says he’s just getting out of something kind of serious. She says she’s not looking for anything serious and has an early flight tomorrow. Amy walks by and looks hurt seeing Jake so cozy with another random woman.

As she says goodbye to Hannah for the day, Amy has another snow globe memory. When she gets home, she finds the snow globe that Katie left out for her with a note. Amy has a memory flash of the snow globe and clearly sees Brian Clark’s face for the first time. She’s at a Christmas fair, holding the snow globe, and seems him in the crowd of people. She doesn’t yet know who he is, but we recognize his face from hospital flashbacks.

Hannah goes to hospital HR to fill out a form, and Edie asks Hannah if she’s the daughter of Brian Clark. Edie lets it slip that she thinks Brian got a “raw deal” at Westside. Hannah pressures her to say what actually happened, adding that Brian killed himself three months after he left the hospital. Edie tells Hannah that her father filed a HR complaint against Amy and a week later, he was gone.
