To Katie: I lost so much, and then I worked so hard to just get any of it back, and I thought I could do better this time. 

To TJ: Everyone reacts badly when they’re scared or hurt. I’m told that I spent the last seven years doing that. I hope you know that there is nothing you could say that would change how I feel about you. 

To Richard: I know what a sick kid can do for a person, and I think I would have forgiven you for your mistake. I even understand why you tried to cover it up, but then…  Richard, you knew how vulnerable and off-balance I had been since my accident, and instead of trying to help me, you gaslit me and weaponized my memory loss. 

To Max: Well guess what, Max, I didn’t fail. I am a damn good doctor. Maybe even better now.

To Max: I am going to stop doing cartwheels for the board, and maybe in a few years – if you’re lucky – I’ll consider being Chief again. How does that sound?
