What I'll Remember

On Amy’s first day back at the hospital, Michael and Gina sit Amy down and tell her that the hospital will be assessing her for a few months. She also has to retake the medical boards and will start as an intern.

While talking to his lawyer about the Bill Dixon situation, Richard mentions that it’s been almost four weeks since Amy’s accident.

Richard assigns Amy to trail Sonya for her first day back, but Jake switches it to TJ. When Richard finds out, he scolds Jake and says that TJ is an intern and the lowest person on the chain, so he’s the least likely to uphold the boundaries and rules they’ve set for Amy.

Amy still can’t get into her emails (which seems like a huge plot hole because IT would be able to get her into her email account, but let’s go with it).

Jake says that he added a fourth year so that he could oversee other residents. He likes teaching and says that he’s had some great teachers (which we can assume includes Amy).

We flashback to six months ago and see examples of how badly Amy treats the interns and residents. Jake meets with Amy in her office about their training methodology and how he wants to change it as Chief Resident. The scene ends with a very flirtatious moment. Later in the episode, we get another scene of Jake and Amy (again six months ago). While they are both on-call at the hospital, they talk a little bit about their personal lives and share food. Their connection is obvious. For the first time, Jake mentions being divorced. Amy says that Katie can’t stand to be in the same room as her. Jake notices Amy’s password written on her computer and asks her about it. Amy tells him that the reason her computer password is MOOcow2009 is because it was Danny’s favorite stuffed animal, plus his birth year.

The accident was four weeks before this episode, so the Jake and Amy flashbacks from six months ago happened five months before the accident. That’s around the time when Amy and Jake got together, according to him.

Amy and Richard talk in his office about Amy’s patient, and it’s clear that Richard is not happy with her. Amy says that she doesn’t know what happened between them, but she’s very sorry because they used to be good friends. She says she has no desire to be Chief again, if that’s what he is worried about. She walks out of the office, and we see that Richard was recording the conversation.

At the end of the episode, Jake walks into the IMO where Amy is trying to get into her emails. Jake tells her the password, which he knows based on the flashback scene, but he plays it off like Amy wasn’t very good about keeping it a secret. At home that night, Amy finally gets into her emails and starts scrolling.
